This dog exhibits bilateral exophthalmos, chemosis and protrusion of the nictating membranes, indicative of orbital disease. Differentials include:
  • Abscess/cellulitis
  • Neoplasia
 

The pain on retropulsion of the globes and on opening the jaw are suggestive of an inflammatory condition, however, in this case, oral examination revealed a proliferative lesion behind the last upper molar. Biopsy confirmed a hemangiosarcoma, metastatic to both orbits from a primary lesion in the spleen.
