Take a Tour of the San Carlos office of Veterinary Vision
Veterinary Vision has two offices, one in San Carlos and one in San Francisco. Both offices are fully equipped to handle all specialized diagnostic and surgical procedures.
Reception Area
In our Reception Area you will check in before your appointment and after the examination you will return to receive instructions, medication, and schedule any future appointments.
Staff
Our friendly and efficient staff members are available to answer any questions you may have about treatment that has been recommended for your pet.
Hospital Treatment
If hospital treatment is needed for your pet, our facility provides state of the art equipment.
Behind the scenes . . .
What occurs in an eye examination? What do the treatment and surgery areas look like?
Examination Room
Once in the examination room, one of our staff will check your pet's tear function and intraocular pressure. These tests are performed quickly and without discomfort.
Indirect ophthalmoscopy
Indirect ophthalmoscopy is used to examine the back of the eye (vitreous, retina, and optic nerve).
Surgical suite
Our San Carlos office is home to a state of the art surgical suite. This is where microsurgery is performed for cataract extraction, corneal disease, eyelid reconstruction and many other specialized procedures.
Surgical equipment
The surgical equipment includes phacoemulisfication and vitrectomy units as well as a diode laser
Ultrasonography
Dr. Mughannam demonstrates the use of Ultrasonography, which is much like an x-ray of the eye, used to evaluate structures which may not be visible on routine examination. It is most useful in situations where opacities may prevent examination of the back of the eye and for evaluation of the tissues behind the eye (orbit).
Surgery
Surgery is being performed to remove a cataract and implant a replacement lens. The actual surgery as seen through the operating microscope is visible on the monitor (arrow) in the bottom photo.
